Statement

How do you perceive the world? What do you notice? What - or who – influences the way you take in your surroundings?

What I love about the photographic process is that it has forced a shift in the way I view each moment. And those moments are fleeting, unique. Light shifts. Shadows change. There is only that singular point in time to capture what I see. So, I am required to pay attention; be present. To notice.

Most of my photographs are taken on long, meandering walks. Often, I walk alone, in urban settings and in nature. At times, an understanding and patient friend joins in stride. I especially enjoy the play of color and light.

Exhibits like this allow me to share how I see the world, the beauty that exists for us to notice. I hope that you enjoy my work and that it inspires you to explore on your own. I’d love to see what scenes move you to pay attention enough to capture it in a photo. And to compare notes.
